Untethered Weekends (Poetry)

Updated: Jan 28

By Gigi McQueen 5/23/24

Weekends are made for highways that lead to nowhere

and waves that crash relentlessly on driftwood,

glass sand and pelican consuming carp

full bellies tumbling over-bowed legs flexing

and bending into hibiscus-colored mountains

leaves shaped like Saturn's

moons

and stars gleaming in the distance

innumerable

gelatin fragile rhythmically bouncing stream of thought

conscious

awakens me

whispering

Monday has arrived

.
